VDI 2700
Assessment to Standard VDI 2700
The German standard for vehicle transport safety, VDI 2700 parts 8.1 and 8.2, was officially published on 1 September 2024.
This regulation applies to all vehicle transporters operating or transiting through German territory, regardless of their country of registration. To comply, vehicles and their load securing systems must be verified and certified as compliant.
ROLFO has been an active contributor to the working group responsible for drafting the standard and is fully prepared to support you through the certification process—ensuring your vehicle avoids load restrictions imposed by customers or law enforcement authorities.
Certification Requirements According to the new standard, certification from the car transporter manufacturer can only be issued when:
- The vehicle has been inspected in accordance with the “Assessment to Standard VDI 2700″ and the completed inspection report has been returned to Rolfo
- The invoice for the service has been paid in full
The verification process can be initiated in advance. To support this, ROLFO has prepared a dedicated document to guide you through the required checks (Assessment to Standard VDI 2700) and help you compile the inspection report to be submitted to Rolfo Customer Care. These checks can be performed independently or through accredited bodies.
All requests and data are managed via an online system accessible at:

Using your credentials, you can access the dedicated page and request certification for your vehicle.
If you do not yet have credentials, you can request them by emailing:

The standard also includes load securing elements such as wedges and straps. ROLFO is ready to supply certified components with appropriate lead times.
Currently, ROLFO can certify the majority of its models produced from 2012 onward. If your vehicle is not listed, please contact us at:

to verify feasibility and, if needed, schedule the necessary tests to obtain certification.
